Starbucks has always made it's support of diversity and specifically the LGBT+ community very widely known. Whether it be supporting in the parades or donating to causes that help the community, they've never been shy about it.
On Wednesday Starbucks announced that their Seattle stores will now be official "Safe Places", as they team up with the Seattle police department. This is in an effort to help victims of violence and hate crimes in the LGBT+ community.
All of this among the recent "scandal", if you can even call it that, where many christian groups have been up in arms about the companies decision to remove their snowflake designs from their winter cups; instead opting for a simple and elegant red. This recent announcement has, predictably, caused even more controversy towards their brand with even the like of Donald Trump saying they should be boycotted.
Despite all of the pathetic hatred towards Starbucks for literally the dumbest thing ever, they haven't been stopped. This is a huge step forward as they are now the precedent for any other companies who want to show their support.
So how do you know if your local business is an LGBT+ safe place? Just look for the rainbow decal in their windows.
TL;DR Starbucks is awesome, as always
what is lgbt? i have not heard of that but besides that I think its cool how Starbucks is now a safe place it kind of makes sense since a lot of people visit. On the other hand to make it better for others to get help Starbucks should extend their business hours.
